I. BASIC SEARCH ENGINE OVERVIEW
We understand that your comprehension of how we work is as important to an ethical search engine optimization campaign as the actual html coding. This document should be used as a tool to familiarize you with all the intricacies of our optimization process and ethical search engine optimization in general.
Spiders
A spider is what a search engine uses to analyze and include your website within its search. Spiders run through the html of your website at light speed picking up different tidbits from various pages. This information is then used by search engines in determining your placement in queries. Different search engines use different spiders. Different spiders, in turn, analyze your HTML coding differently. Spiders continually roam the internet picking up new web-sites and content. Search Engines use spiders, directories do not. A commonly known spider is Google™ ’s “GoogleBot.”
Search Engines vs. Directories
A search engine is a database of web-sites and web-pages. When you enter a search into a search engine it uses a variety of methods or algorithms to shoot back an answer to your inquiry. Commonly used search engines are MSN, LYCOS, and Google™.
A directory is a listing of web-sites, like the yellow pages. Typically, directories are much pickier about who and what they include. When someone enters a search into a directory, the engine shoots out a listing among the companies listed in that directory. Web-sites that are not listed within the directory structure therefore have no chance of being found by web surfers. Directories include DMOZ™ (The Open Directory Project) and Yahoo™.
Yahoo™, however, is actually a combination search engine and directory. When you do a search in Yahoo™, results shoots back based on answers from its directory and a third party search engine (Google™ ). Recently however, Yahoo™ decided that being held captive to third party technology was simply unacceptable. As such, they purchased a leading search engine firm called Inktomi™ for a grand sum of $235 million dollars- Dec 2002.

II. HOW SEOMATRIX OPTIMIZATION WORKS
Using the knowledge we just learned from the previous “basics” segment we now can extend our footing a bit further. Since directories are typically run by actual human beings how do we optimize for them? Well, usually human eyes review directory submissions, changing titles and descriptions at will. The most important aspect to remember with directories, is the most essential part is getting a listing in the first place. This, however, is not as easy as it sounds. Two things that business owners don’t like to hear, it takes time and in some instances money to obtain these listings ($299 Yahoo Listing).
Here at SEOMatrix we are firm believers that the directory DMOZ and not Yahoo is the most important place to be listed. DMOZ results are factored into many search engines. Getting a DMOZ listing is tricky because editors are slow in reacting to submissions. The fastest way to get listed can actually be through working with them as a “human editor.”
Different companies use various techniques to foster high search engine rankings. There are two commonly used strategies that most ethical search engine optimization (Ethical SEO) companies employ.
- Altering the HTML coding within your pre-existing website.
- Building content pages which are independent of your pre-existing website.
Both processes can be effective- provided a certain amount of care, foresight, and understanding of the individual business is put forth.
We’ll start by analyzing option one:
Altering the HTML coding within your pre-existing website offers a few advantages. The first is that the HTML adjustments will be invisible to your web-surfers. The look, feel, and design of your website will remain unchanged. It is relatively easy for a trained ethical search engine optimization technician to simply download your website and make changes from his or her computer. These changes are later uploaded to your web-server without much fan-fair or downtime whatsoever.
How does SEOMatrix decide the changes to an existing website?
General
The first part in any ethical search engine optimization process is a deep understanding of the client’s business. Unfortunately, most SEO companies take this step for granted. What other companies refer to as a “dedicated technician” is usually a sales-associate who needs constant reminders that you are not in the business of selling fishing tackle, but high end watches. Without a dedicated individual who is going to take the time to understand your products, market niche, cost structure, vertical and horizontal markets, there is a very low probability that your SEO campaign will succeed.
Here are the actual steps SEOMatrix takes during the process we discussed for option one.
Step 1) – Overview -Extensive review of client’s business- this includes competitor analysis, profit structure, market niche, vertical and horizontal markets, cost structure, and popularity frequency. We also analyze a client’s current state of affairs by reviewing all of the current search engine listings. This helps us to decide which areas are in the most need of analysis, and in turn, action.
Step 2) – Keyword Analysis - We decide on an initial set of keywords. These keywords are analyzed by three factors, Competition, Product Demand, and Product or Service profitability {CDP™}. [We are the only SEO company which currently employs this three pronged approach. Without it however, a SEO campaign is bound to fail. I’ll explain in a fictitious case study of “Mr. Widget LLC”:

III. CDP™ SYSTEM CASE STUDY
Assumptions for Mr. Widget LLC:
10 visitors = 1 sale
Constant stream of daily visitors
Traffic generated from all search engines
Case Study:
You are selling blue and red widgets on two separate web pages. Blue widgets sell for $50 (profit = $10), red widgets sell for $500 (profit = $300). Not many people sell blue widgets over the internet, but despite this, demand is still relatively high- thus many people type in blue widgets within the search engines. Your blue widget page gets 100 visitors a day, and you sell 10 blue widgets daily, giving you a $100 profit. There are many more competitors across the internet selling red widgets, but, demand for these widgets is relatively low. Your red widget page gets only ten visitors a day, but you average on red widget sale a day, giving you a $300 profit.
Setting up invoices for 10 blue widget sales has your shipping department working on full throttle. In contrast, shipping one red widget takes much less paper work and overtime hours. It makes much more sense to focus in on red widgets despite the fact that competition is high and searches are low. This is the direct opposite of what other SEO companies will tell you- they will optimize your site for blue widgets instead of red! A potentially fatal mistake your business cannot afford to make.
Step 3) - Coding - once your keywords are finalized we download and begin analyzing your current HTML coding. We look for inconsistencies that might hinder the ability of a spider to grant you high placed search results. Once our analysis is complete we re code your website and upload it to your server.
Step 4) - Submission- Using the information in our business overview we submit your website to the key search engines and directories. The process spans only 11 Major Search Engines. Most of your website traffic will most likely come from the top 4 – 6 engines including- Google™ , Yahoo, AltaVista, Lycos, MSN, and AOL.

Step 5) - Monitoring / Re-Coding – Once the submission stage is complete SEOMatrix will begin its bi-weekly monitoring stage. You will receive monthly updates on traffic, differentials from previous listings, and competitor analysis. Often times search engine spiders and search algorithms change abruptly, in these instances we immediately update the coding on your website to return your listings to previous levels.
Option 2) Building content pages which are independent of your pre-existing website is the second way to boost your website traffic:
This process is similar to option 1, with a few distinct differences. In this case we actually purchase new domain names and build from scratch pages that are meant to attract would be buyers. Page names and titles are carefully chosen and coded as to maximize their effectiveness. It is a bit more time consuming for an SEO company to engage in this technique, but it can be equally effective.

IV. SEOMATRIX DIFFERENCE
- One of the most essential aspects of an SEOMatrix campaign, which again distinguishes ourselves from other companies, is the fact that you own the domains, content pages, URLs, and the coding that we create. Most SEO companies lock clients in by charging huge fees if they decide to “re-claim” the content pages that were created. SEOMatrix clients, in contrast, own every word, url, domain, web-page, and web-site that we create. This forces us to focus on results, while not holding clients “hostage” like our competition.
- Our three pronged website analysis- competitiveness, product or service demand, and profitability. Patented and proprietary our CDP™ approach to optimization is simply hands down the most effective system available to date.
- Most SEO companies also only focus on one way of optimizing. SEOMatrix has developed two independent proprietary systems of website optimization: optimizing your current website while also constructing a “from scratch” content rich optimized website.
- Our highly competitive cost structure due to our in house engineers, seven day, 365 day a year customer service and support, make us the most reliable and respected company in the industry. Comparable service offerings start at $45,000.00 per year [www.reinventbusiness.com]. Our services are incredibly affordable and astonishingly effective.
